Prof.Bhekumusa Jabulani Ximba is an Associate Professor and assistant dean in the Faculty of Applied Sciences at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), Cape Town, South Africa (SA where he has been a faculty member since October 2004.
He obtained his PhD in Chemistry at Wyne State University in Detroit, Michigan, his MSc in Chemistry at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and his undergraduate degrees (BSc and BSc Honours) at the University of Zululand.
Before joining CPUT, Bhekumusa was a lecturer in the School of Chemistry at the University of the Witwatersrand. Professor Ximba has one book chapter and over 30 publications mainly in international peer-reviewed journals, and conference proceedings.
His research interests lie in the area of Analytical and Environmental Chemistry which covers heavy metals and emerging organic pollutants in terrestrial waters and sediments as well as industrial pollutants.
He has collaborated actively with researchers in a couple of other disciplines like Chemical Education, Medicinal Chemistry and Rheology. He is occasionally invited to review papers for various publishers.
He is a professional member of The South African Chemical Institute that promotes chemistry, chemists, the chemical industry and chemical education in South Africa.
He is also a member of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC). He enjoys watching sport of all codes, especially soccer and tennis.
He also manages to read one book a month.
