Abstract: The article presents a forum of several authors reflecting on the significance of the South African politician Nelson Mandela in regard to the theme of education. An introduction is included contextualizing Mandela's views and contributions to education. Authors address issues such as the centrality of reading in the figure's life and work, the educational policies pursued by Mandela in his administration, and connections between education and self-reflection.
