Abstract: This chapter will identify the notable influence of fabrication parameters on the strength of nanomaterials. This information will be useful in those researchers who are developing smart devices. Vanadium dioxide (VO2) thin films will be used in this chapter as an example. VO2 is briefly defined to be one of the newly discovered smart materials which changes its microstructural phase from semiconductor to metal phase upon heat application. The proposed application of this material could be the development of heat resistant window, heat sensing devices and so on
