Book chapteren_US
More than a decade has passed since the incorporations and mergers of institutions of higher education in South Africa. These mergers were aimed at creating institutions with new identities and cultures consistent with the vision, values and principles of non-racial and non-sexist democratic society and transformation of higher education institutions into effective and efficient institutions that are responsive and contribute to the changing intellectual skills and knowledge of South Africa (Seepe, 2010). Yet there is little literature or documentation on the mergers, outcomes and lessons learnt (Hay & Fourie, 2002; Seepe, 2010).en_US
