Current work:
- Associate Professor, Media and Communication Studies Department, Faculty of Informatics and Design, Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Cape Town, South Africa

Current research:
- The scholarship of consciousness in media and communication, with a focus on media studies for fiction and non-fiction based in narratology, semiotics and gender studies

- Associate Professor and co-ordinator, undergraduate film production programmes;
- Deputy Head of Media Department;
Education:
- Undergraduate degrees in English literature and law (and admission as an attorney),
- Interdisciplinary Masters in narrative and feminist sociology,
- Interdisciplinary PhD in masculinities studies based in philosophy, anthropology, sociology and psychology;
- Supplementary PhD-level coursework in semiotics & higher education practice,
