Biography
In 2015, Prof. Velaphi Msomi earned his Doctor of Technology from Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Serving as a Lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the same institution, he contributed from 2012 to 2021. Progressing to the role of Senior Lecturer within the department, he continued his tenure from 2022 to 2023. Subsequently, he transitioned to the University of South Africa in 2024, assuming the position of Associate Professor, a role he presently holds. Prof. Msomi has guided 17 MEng graduates and 3 DEng graduates in their academic journeys. Additionally, he has served as a Guest Editor for numerous international journals and achieved recognition through the prestigious National Research Foundation Award (2023 NRF Research Awards) in the category of Emerging/Early Career Researcher. This esteemed award, sponsored by NRF and Elsevier, underscores his significant research contributions.
