Biography
Research Chair at the African Climate and Development Initiative at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Active in climate change research in several fields: detection of climate change trends, climate model evaluation, climate scenarios, assessment of uncertainty in climate projections and impacts, especially water, food and ecosystems, and resultant adaptation strategies, and the implications of the failure of climate mitigation policies for climate impacts and adaptation. Current research focuses on two main areas – and attribution of climate and weather impacts on society in Africa and quantification of the benefits and costs of adaptation.
