Biography
Dr M  Pourbehi, is a researcher and lecturer at Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT). He received his PhD in Civil Engineering from Stellenbosch University in 2018.  He has been conducting research in durability, sustainability and computational structural mechanics aspects of construction materials and structures such as concrete dams and water storage tanks since 2015. He is a member of RILEM and two world-wide Technical Committees to study the Alkali-Silica Reaction (ASR) in concrete material and structures. This international project is aimed to assess the risk of concrete mixture designs with reactive aggregates and to appraise the behaviour and efficiency of alternative/non-traditional materials and techniques such as fibers and self-healing materials to mitigate ASR-induced development in the new and affected structures.
