Abstract: A power system network is one of the essential systems serving electricity to customer loads at the desired quality with minimal supply interruptions. Since the power system can be subjected to disturbances during operation, its reliability is prioritized at the planning and design stage. As a result, the power system is anticipated to be stable, reliable, and secured in the event of disturbance and post-fault conditions. The grid-connection of Renewable Energy Systems (RESs) and Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) are expected to improve the power system grid reliability. These systems quickly respond to power system changes between generation and load. However, their poor coordination can significantly contribute to frequency and voltage instability, weakening grid resiliency. This paper conducts a literature review and the benefits of DERs to enhance and maintain power system stability. The simulation results from the modified IEEE 9 bus network modeled using DIgSILENT simulation indicate that the power system stability can be maintained adequately, provided that the DERs can be dispatchable.
