| dc.description.abstract | This paper reports on the influence of the pin profile towards the microstructure and the mechanical properties of the underwater friction stir processed dissimilar (SFSP) AA6082/AA8011 joint. The friction stir processed (processed) dissimilar joints were initially produced through the friction stir welding technique. The SFSP joint produced using two different pin profiles were studied comparatively. The cylindrical threaded pin profile (TP1) and triangular pin profile with flutes (TP2) were used in performing SFSP on AA6082/AA8011 dissimilar joint. The joint produced using with TP2 pin profile had finer grains compared to the joint produced using the TP1 pin profile. The tensile properties of the joint produced with TP2 were higher compared to those produced using TP1. | en_US |
