Abstract: This article details the growth, power and influence of social media. By doing this it shows the enormous effect in which social media has on Internet traffic. The results show that many users now prefer to search social media rather than traditional search engines. It also shows that social media search’s may one day overtake traditional searching. This article explores the steps companies like Google are taking to incorporate social media. We look at how quickly information can be spread from one part of the globe to the next by means of Twitter. This article explores how companies are using to social media expand there markets. Also how celebrities use it to increase their fame. This article investigates social media pages use of links to other social media pages keeping the user and traffic on social media sites. We question can search’s increased trending topics, or will it lead to engine crash’s in the future
