Abstract: Search engines have big influence to the actual online market hence a lot of online businesses are interested in search engine optimization techniques in order to get their business pages ranked as high as possible for any major search engine (Quinton and Mohammed, 2009). The objective of this research is to provide basic information about the current state of so called “back hat” communities who have the intention to get a faster and better search ranking than any of their competitor businesses by trying to work around the search engine algorithms. The information this study provides is based on actual research articles about current search engine optimization techniques and tries to clarify questions about black hat communities including the following topics: 1) the top black hat communities; 2) the current marketing channels for black hat communities; 3) any platforms, methods and marketing efforts which could be sued to minimize the influence of black hat communities.
