Rooibos preparation

Abstract

The invention discloses a rooibos preparation, which includes a controlled and/or sustained-release composition including a rooibos extract (Aspalathus linearis). The preparation can be a rooibos tea preparation. The rooibos extract can be a rooibos tea extract. The preparation includes a controlled and/or sustained-release rooibos extract provided in the form of a tablet, mini-tablet and/or capsule. The rooibos preparation includes a modified release delivery system to ensure a sustained-release of rooibos compounds for an extended period of time. The invention also discloses a method to improve the relatively short duration of the rooibos anti-oxidant constituents in the systemic circulation due to rapid elimination.
