The methods used for modelling, parameter estimation, optimization and controller design are discussed. Algorithms for integration with the unit communication protocol through LabVIEW VIs are described and the VIs are given. The programs and control system are implemented on a standard PC, running Windows 98, and connected to the fermentation unit through a standard RS232/RS422 converter.
