Professor Lawrence Ogechukwu Obokoh -
Joined Cape Peninsula University of Technology as an Associate Professor and Head of Department of Cost and Management Accounting on 1 August 2016. Prior to his appointment, he was an Associate Professor and former coordinator of the MBA programmes at the Department of Management & Accounting, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.
Lawrence has also held research and academic positions in the Department of Business Management at University of Johannesburg as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow (2014-2015), Spectrum College, London (2009-2010) and currently a Resource Fellow with the West African College of Surgeons as one of the key facilitators in the Health Management and Ethics Course for Surgeons. His qualifications include Bachelors (Hons) in Accounting (Obafemi Awolowo University, 1995), MBA (Cum Laude) in Finance (Obafemi Awolowo University, 2000) and a PhD in Management & Business (University of Wales, Aberyswyth, 2009). Lawrence has published widely in academic circles and his articles have been published or accepted in journals such as Production Planning & Control, the German Law Journal, International Journal of Business and Emerging Markets and also The Business Review. Lawrence is a Chartered Accountant (CA) and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). He is an examination assessor in Multi-Disciplinary Case Study (MDCS) for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria professional examination and also an editorial board member of the Journal of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
His research interest and expertise are in the areas of government economic policy, SMEs finance and development, corporate social responsibility, management accounting and business ethics, entrepreneurship and youth development/empowerment.
