Abstract: The purpose of this project was to investigate various methods that would allow accurate measurement of individual cell voltages that are all connected in series to make up a battery pack. Methods such as isolation amplifiers, opto-isolaters, DC-to-DC converters and a series of new chips designed specifically to do this task, were all evaluated in terms of complexity, performance, measurement range, accuracy, size and in particular cost.
