dc.description.abstractPurpose: Construction resources are not only increasing in cost daily, but are becoming relatively scarce. In addition, prospective clients and developers need value for the money invested; contractors' reputations and profits are indispensable, while national development is also imperative. These scenarios make the need for evaluation of current innovations towards efficient construction resources optimal utilisation towards efficient construction resources optimal utilisation in the construction industry. Methodology and Design: This paper presents an evaluation (review) on current innovation towards efficient construction resources optimal utilisation in the construction industry. The need for efficient resources utilisation and the state of the construction industry in the UK construction industry were significantly appraised. Some innovative and the current approaches and techniques towards the enhancement of construction products’ delivery were presented. This study ultimately presents a framework (the approaches) of concurrent evaluation of the current practices, (system and sequence) towards achieving best practice in the construction industry. Findings: The areas need to be changed in construction industry include the working conditions, skills and training, design approaches, use of technology and relationships between companies. Thus, some of the current effective practices in the construction industry identified include the Lean construction techniques, partnering and the supply chain systems, benchmarking, and the construction key performance indicators (KPIs). Originality/value: This paper presents the need for efficient resources utilisation and some current approaches in the construction industry which lead to optimal resources utilisation and construction resources waste management, (CRWM). Based on the approaches discussed, construction organisations will tend to deliver their products more efficiently, cheaper and faster, and perpetuate stakeholders’ satisfactions.en_US
