IEEE. | Abstract: | The work in this paper researches directional flow of reactive power at harmonic frequencies in a power system. An innovation is the introduction of the concepts sources and sinks to demonstrate directions. A nodal diagram and new formulae are developed for analyzing harmonic source-sink relationships of reactive power directional flows. Harmonic penetration, resonance and anti-resonance conditions are investigated to evaluate nodal source-sink responses including the operation of a harmonic filter. Case studies are conducted using a harmonic analysis software tool. The results are analyzed and compared.
