Division of labour as exploitative mechanism of workers

Abstract

Division of labour has been acknowledged and praised by conservatives as a source of the wealth of nations, without considering its effects on the working class. On the other hand, social progressives believe that the division of labour is inhuman and exploitative in nature, particularly toward workers. The authors of this article align more with the social progressive counteractions that the division of labour is a form of capitalistic labour exploitation, and postulate certain ameliorating mechanisms to mend the lopsided effects of the division of labour in the workplace.
