dc.description.abstractThis article provides a broad overview and an opinion of the educational implication of the South African tourist guiding sector, within the context of the formation of the Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Education and Training Authority (THETA). The role of THETA and the development of tourist guiding qualifications, including the methods of attaining those qualifications, will form sub-contents of this article. The course content of the tourist guiding course at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) will be included as an example.en_US
