Mr. Anton Nel started his career in the wine industry in 1990. First introduction was in a cooperative wine cellar called Louwshoek Voorsorg (later Daschbosch and now Union Wines). Nel was also the assistant winemaker there from 1996 to 2000. Before that he worked at KWV at their concentrate area in Robertson (1990 to 1992). Later he was appointed assistant winemaker at Soetwynboere in Montague from 1993 to 1995 (later Cogmasn winery). Nel became a winemaker at Kango from 2001 to 2003. During this time he made wine in France (1999) and Turkey (2000). Nel studied at the University of Stellenbosch obtaining a BScAgric (enology & viticulture) in 2007 and MScAgric (enology) in 2010. Nel also worked for Distell from 2010 and moved to Elsenburg in 2012 to become a lecturer in viticulture. Nel is now a lecturer in enology at CPUT.
