This study follows two main methodological approaches to achieve its primary objective. First, a systematic literature review is followed to identify higher education blockchain adoption factors and higher education value drivers. This approach allows the study to synthesise the existing knowledge on blockchain adoption in higher education and identify the most critical factors influencing adoption. Second, qualitative content analysis is used to develop a conceptual model to illustrate the points at which higher education value chain activities and blockchain drivers converge to drive blockchain adoption in higher education. This approach provides a framework for understanding how blockchain can create value in higher education. The study identifies the key drivers of blockchain in higher education and how the drivers are interconnected. It also explores the role of value chain factors as drivers and influencers of blockchain adoption. It also develops a conceptual model that can be used to improve the adoption of blockchain in higher education. The study has implications for researchers, policymakers, and decision-makers in higher education. For policymakers, the study offers insights into the factors to consider when developing policies to support the adoption of blockchain in higher education. For decision-makers and researchers in higher education, the study provides a framework for adopting blockchain.en_US
