      <description>Title: NHC: Financial Information Systems
Authors: Le Roux, Suzaan
Abstract: Student performance over the past few years indicates a disconcerting downward trend year on year, especially in practical-based subjects such as computer programming. It is evident that current learning tools in practical-based subjects do not comply with the demands faced by HE institutions in developing countries. It is therefore imperative to determine whether Open Educational Resources (OER) can bridge the existing learning gap to facilitate practical-based teaching and learning in HE institutions of developing countries.
Description: There is a dearth of educational resources on Visual Basic computer programming, and these OER are primarily outdated and text-based, or it covers programming languages such as Java, C++, C#, Python etc. (and not Visual Basic).&#xD;
&#xD;
The objective of this project is to utilise OER in order to extend ways in which students could be supported in practical-based subjects (computer programming) both on and off campus, and as a result, increase throughput and success rates.</description>
