Abstract: This research aims to develop sustainable waste management practices in the construction industry by substituting components in 3D printing concrete (3DPC) with recycled glass waste material. This substitution not only improved concrete durability but also reduces environmental demand and promotes sustainability in the construction industry. Waste recycled glass was incorporated as cementitious material and fillers to formulate an environmentally friendly 3DPC. The study considered four aspects: waste material characterisation, mix design formulation, formulation modification optimisation for 3D printing, and potential of the obtained paste in a circular economy. Characterisation of materials was performed using X-ray fluorescence (XRF) to determine the elemental composition, X-ray diffraction (XRD) to determine the phase analysis, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) to determine the structural bonding, and Particle Size Analysis to determine the particle size distribution. The findings provide a comprehensive understanding of the effects of incorporating waste glass as filler in formulations suited for 3DPC. It contributes to knowledge regarding the optimal percentages and replacement levels of these waste materials to achieve the desired 3D printing properties. Ultimately, this research aims to enhance the sustainability of buildings and infrastructure by addressing material selection, energy efficiency, local sourcing, design optimization, recycling and reuse, durability, labour reduction, and waste reduction.</summary>

Authors: Periola, Ayodele; Alonge, A.A.; Ogudo, K.A.
Abstract: The siting of data centres comprising multiple server racks in an underwater environment is recognized to reduce cooling costs and improve datacentre performance. However, the siting of data centres in the ocean raises new deployment challenges for cloud service providers. The deployment of large sized datacentres in an underwater environment requires purchasing or hiring large sized high capacity ocean vessels that transport underwater data centres to the designated underwater location before it is dunked into the ocean. The hiring of high capacity ocean vessels with high costs is challenging for cloud service providers with small capital resources. The intended hire might not be challenging for cloud service providers such as Amazon, Google, and Microsoft with significant capital resources. In addition, the use of high capacity ocean vessels increases the visibility of the locations of underwater data centre to other actors leveraging on the ocean’s resources for other applications. The use of small capacity ocean vessels reduces the visibility thereby enhancing the security of the underwater data centre. The research being proposed presents a computing based furling and stowing solution. The proposed solution varies the dimensions of server chassis within pre–defined minimum and maximum values. It realizes the goal by incorporating the computing framework and an enabling architecture.</summary>

Authors: Periola, Ayodele; Alonge, A.A.; Ogudo, K.A.
Abstract: Mobile devices play a key role in developing mental health focused applications for individuals. The presented research proposes using mobile devices to limit the occurrence of depression in disabled individuals. It proposes a novel two stage solution that limits depression in disabled subscribers. The solution is integrated in a headband. Disabled subscribers have been considered because of their limited ability (or inability) to demonstrate motor skills enabling them to avoid trauma triggering scenarios. The research also examines how the proposed mechanism influences an individual’s identity. This is because existing solution utilize an invasive approach while the proposed solution is non-invasive. Analysis shows that the proposed mechanism preserves individual identity by 74.2%–99.3% on average.</summary>

Authors: Periola, Ayodele; Laseinde, Opeyeolu Timothy; Ogidan, Olugbenga K.
Abstract: Technological advances play an important role in future transport. Currently, assets such as fossil-fuel-based terrestrial vehicles, hybrid terrestrial vehicles and non–fossil fuel-based terrestrial vehicles are used in logistics. However, the use of terrestrial and aerial logistic assets faces challenges from cargo theft and hijacking. The occurrence of cargo theft and hijacking degrades the resilience of the organizational supply chain. It is important to reduce the success of cargo theft, and organizational loss. The presented research proposes the use of stratosphere based platform for cargo transport to reduce cargo theft and hijacking. The use of stratosphere based platforms is beneficial as its host geographical location, the stratosphere is significantly inaccessible to rogue elements. In addition, stratosphere utilization results in reduced cargo transport time due to the reduced air resistance. The proposed research presents the cargo intelligent network architecture which demonstrates how using stratospheric platforms for cargo transport solutions can address this challenge. Performance evaluation results show that using the proposed mechanism instead of the existing mechanism enhances the number of completed trips and reduces carbon emissions. The number of trips is enhanced by 50.4% on average. The carbon emissions is reduced by 89.6% on average.</summary>
