Biography
The Doctor Purca interest and her research in the Peruvian Marine Institute (Instituto del Mar del Peru – IMARPE) is about the analysis the impacts of microplastics on the sandy beaches along Peruvian coasts. She is the co-PI in a project about determining the baseline of the presence of microplastics in the eatable fish and invertebrates in Peru. Nowadays, she is member of the Research Network of Marine-Coastal Stressors in Latin America and Caribbean Seas (REMARCO), microplastic component. She is a part of the Peruvian delegation in the Ocean Fisheries Working Group APEC since 2016, her support the scientific information of the marine debris roadmap. Between March 2021- March 2023 she was a part of the Executive Committee of the Research Network of Marine-Coastal Stressors in Latin America and The Caribbean (REMARCO). Nowadays, she coordinates the spectroscopy infrared FT-IR equipment donation to IMARPE (Peru) by IAEA. Finally, she is involved in STEM for women and girl workshops after receive the National award 2017 "For Women in Science" L’Oréal-UNESCO Peru, ANC and CONCYTEC edition.
