Abstract: This paper investigates the aperture efficiency performance limits of the shaped offset Gregorian reflector antennas with single pixel feeds, as used for the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) radio telescope. A parameter study of a theoretical feed defined by a number of spherical modes, limited by the physical dimension, is performed. The results are compared to practical feeds.
